Description
Made of a mixture of mud, sand, loam, and water with binding materials such as rice husks or straw, mud-brick construction is called Adobe in areas of Spanish influence. Adobe is among the world's earliest building materials, and it is very common here in the Sacred Valley. All the buildings at our Ranch are constructed using this ancient method.
In this hands-on workshop you will get your hands dirty and learn all about the building traditions of the Sacred Valley. Surrounded by colourful mountains, hummingbirds, and horses, Senor Luis and Senor Claudio - our local experts in mud brick making - will share their first-hand knowledge about this building tradition. With their help, you’ll make some strong mud mix yourself, and shape it into blocks.
After the workshop we will enjoy some refreshments, and you can clean up in our facilities.
Demo includes:
- English-speaking facilitator and a local builder
- All the implements you’ll need for this activity
- Use of showers and towels
- Local seasonal fruit juice
