Description
Spend a special hour on horseback, away from the crowds. Delighting yourself in the stunning views of the rural Sacred Valley.
The ride starts at Salineras Ranch, located between the Vilcanota River and the Salineras mountain. Upon arrival, your guide will brief you on safety and horseback riding instructions, and then introduce you to your horse.
We’ll then show you our neighbourhood, a beautiful section of the Sacred Valley that just a few get to see. There are no popular tourist attractions on this route, which is why this is an unforgettable and peaceful way to experience rural life in the Sacred Valley.
We’ll also ride along the single dirt track that goes through the ancient village of Pichingoto to see the homes built into the side of the mountain like caverns, many of which are still occupied by Quechua people, descendants of the Incas, who are our neighbours and friends. We also will pass by an old church and finally reach a beautiful open grassland with crops and natural pastures where we’ll also spot farm animals wandering free surrounded by small swamps. Here, we’ll take a break for spectacular photos of the Sacred Valley, enjoying the splendour of the surrounding mountains. Finally, we start our return to the ranch where we’ll enjoy a delicious snack.
Our guides: bilingual, highly experienced, local riders who are extremely knowledgeable about the area. Our support team will carry your gear; and assist you at every turn.
Our horses: well-trained and cared for specimens of the Peruvian Paso breed or Creole horses.
Price per person: 2 to 4 people US $48; for groups of 5 or more US $46
